ROUGHVOW is a project through which D. Hwang’s philosophical thinking is translated into a sensory experience using sound, visuals, and lyrics.
Language in this project functions both as meaning and as sound. Different languages are chosen not only for what they express, but for their phonetic qualities, treated as distinct sonic instruments and used according to the character of each piece.
